Project based (meaningful) learning design for K12 education

Aims & goals:

• Rethink the role of school, learning and educators
  
• Understand project based learning
  
• Distinguish between project based learning vs doing projects for learning
  
• Experience and experiment tools and mindsets to define, design and deliver new forms of powerful education
  
• Exchange experiences with peers to foster the development of a community of practice

Contents:

• Set the need: reflections on education, learning and innovation. Why do schools need to change and what does that mean for teachers and learners?
  
• Set the stage: project based learning - shaping a vision, creating a culture and cultivating life long learning in others
  
• Design the learning: tools and resources to design meaningful, experimental and experiential learning experiences and spaces
  
• Facilitate the learning: do´s and dont´s of a learning facilitator (in place, while visiting a real-life project based school)

Project Based Learning (PBL) is a teaching method in which students learn by actively engaging in real-world and personally meaningful projects

Methodology:

​The course is  designed as an immersive experience - a learning journey supported by a real project based learning school. The learning process will foster an effective personal and professional transformation. The course includes a visit to a school (www.schole.pt) where project-based learning is in place.
